Sub:  Export Promotion Events – Seeking “Expressing of Interest”
 
Dear Members,
 
We wish to inform that as per Annual Action Plan of the Council for the year 2009-10, approved by Department of Commerce, under MDA Scheme the Council proposed to organize the the following stand alone Export Promotion Events during the month of February / March 2010:
 
1)       Buyer Seller Meet in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh & Jeddah) and Jordan during first half of February 2010
2)       Visit of Leather Trade Delegation to South Africa, Ethiopia during second half of February 2010
3)       Visit of Leather Trade Delegation to Chile & Peru during second half of March 2010.
 
The details of afore said trade events were included in the Annual Calendar of Export Promotion Events for the year 2009-10 which was forwarded to all Members in the month of May 2009.  However, brief details of each of the event is given below for information
 
1)  Buyer Seller Meet in Riyadh, Jeddah and Jordan:
The Council proposes to organize Buyer Seller Meet in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh & Jeddah) and Jordan (Amman) during first half of February 2010 keeping in view the potential of these important markets in the Middle East Region.  Such trade event will give a platform for Business entrepreneurs in these countries to hold business interactions over B2B meetings with Indian exporters, thereby facilitate forming synergetic partnerships.
 
It is proposed to organize BSM for total of 5 days during first half of February 2010 in all three places with participation of about 10-12 member exporters of Footwear, Leather Garments, Leather Goods, Harness & Sadlery etc in this BSM.
 
Tentative Participation Fee:  The Tentative Participation Fee is Rs.1,00,000/-.  However the final participation cost will be worked out after completion of the event.
 
2)  Visit of Leather Trade Delegation to South Africa and Ethiopia:
As a part of the Focus Africa Programme of Department of Commerce, Government of India, the Council proposes to organize the visit of Leather Trade Delegation to South Africa combined with Ethiopia, to tap the potential of these markets in African Region.
 
It is planned to take aTrade Delegation of 8-10 member exporters of Footwear, Leather Garments, Goods, Harness & Saddlery etc to Johannesburg (South Africa) and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) during second half of February 2009 which will be for a duration of 4 days.
 
Tentative Participation Fee:  The Tentative Participation Fee is Rs.1,00,000/-.  However the final participation cost will be worked out after completion of the event.
 
3)  Visit of Leather Trade Delegation to Chile & Peru:
Similarly, as a part of Focus LAC Programme of Department of Commerce, the Council proposes to organize the visit of Leather Trade Delegation to Chile and Peru with a view to further enhance India’s exports to these important markets in Latin American Region. 
 
A Delegation of 8-10 member exporters of Footwear, Leather Garments, Goods, Harness & Saddlery etc will visit Chile and Peru during second half of March 2010 with a duration of 4 days.
 
Tentative Participation Fee:  The Tentative Participation Fee is Rs.1,00,000/-.  However the final participation cost will be worked out after completion of the event.
 
During these trade events the Council intends to organize meetings with Indian Exporters and Business entrepreneurs dealing in Leather and Leather Products in these countries. Delegation will also hold discussions / Presentation Meetings with important Leather and Leather Products Trade Associations / Chambers of Commerce which will be followed with visit to few production Units / Departmental Stores / Shopping Malls etc. in these places. Such Trade Events will provide an ideal opportunity for Indian exporters and entrepreneurs in these countries to hold business interactions over B2B meetings and thus provide ieal opportunity for firming up business collaborations / strategic alliances / marketing tie ups etc..
 
Indian Missions in these countries have been approached for their support and expert guidance to organize these Events  Specific suggestions about suitable dates, Venue,  Event Management Agency, pre-event publicity and mobilization of business visitors etc. have been sought to effectively conduct these programmes. 
 
In this background the Council would like to seek your participation in the afore-said Export Promotion Events for furtherance of India’s export of leather and leather products to these potential and focus markets.
 
Assistantnce under MDA Scheme:
The Trade Delegation to Chile & Peru and South Africa and Ethiopia will be organized as a part of Focus LAC / Africa Programme respectively.  Accordingly member-participants will be eligible for assistance under MDA Scheme as given below:
 
a)       Maximum amount of Rs.1,00,000/- (one lakh) for Trade Delegation to Chile & Peru
b)       Maximum amount of Rs.70,000/- (Seventy Thousand) for Trade Delegation to South Africa and Ethiopia. 
 
This will be on travel amount of economy excursion class air fare. The admissibility will be subject to fulfillment of other MDA eligibility criteria as per MDA Scheme.  Air fare reimbursement will be eligible to one regular employee / Director / Partner / Proprietor of the Company.
 
No MDA Grant is eligible for member-participants for their participation in BSM in Riyadh, Jeddah and Jordan, being a General Area category.
 
Please note that  the Air fare, hotel accommodation, etc have to be borne by the participants.  The tentative participation fee is mainly towards meeting the organizational expenses for holding the Events..
 
Member-exporters are requested to convey their  “Expression of interest” for participation in the aforesaid Trade Events by filling up the proforma given below and send to the Council’s, Head Office in Chennai or Regional Offices in Kanpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Agra.  This may be sent by e-mail on or before 5th December 2009 enabling the Council to proceed ahead for firming up arrangements to organize these Export Promotion Events as per Annual Action Plan.
