Sub : Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) of United States of America

Dear Member

As you are aware, the United States of America provides the GSP benefit to notified countries including India. Under GSP, duty free import facility in USA is provided for certain leathers and leather goods exported from India under Chapter 42.

As per information hosted in the website of United States Trade Representative (copy enclosed), USA has removed GSP benefit for the following types of leathers with effect from Nov. 1, 2018.

41079980	2.4%	Free

 

·         On account of removal of GSP, the above mentioned normal (MFN) duties will apply for export of afore-mentioned leathers from India to USA.

·         However, USA GSP benefit has not been removed for leather goods under Chapter 42.
