ANALYSIS – IMPORT PERFORMANCE OF LEATHER AND LEATHER PRODUCTS DURING

APRIL – DECEMBER 2020 VIS-À-VIS APRIL – DECEMBER 2019.

 

A. Introduction:

 

As per officially notified DGCI&S monthly Import Data, the Import of Raw Hides & Skins, Leather and Leather products for the period April-December 2020 touched US $ 518.31 Million as against the performance of US $ 1055.91 Million in April-December 2019, recording a negative growth of 50.91%.

B.Conclusion:

 

 

• Import of different categories of Footwear holds a major share of about 51.23% in India’s total leather & leather product with an Import value of US $ 265.53 Mn. This is followed by Finished Leather 41.51%, Leather Goods & Accessories with a share of 4.58%, Raw Hides & Skins 2.21%, Leather Garments 0.29% and Saddlery & Harness 0.18%.
