ANALYSIS – EXPORT PERFORMANCE OF LEATHER AND LEATHER PRODUCTS DURING

APRIL – MARCH 2021 VIS-À-VIS APRIL – MARCH 2020.

 Introduction:

1. As per officially notified DGCI&S monthly export data, the export of Leather and Leather products for the period April 2020 – March 2021 touched US $ 3681.68 Mn as against the performance of US $ 5093.09 Mn in April 2019 – March 2020, recording a decline of 27.71%. In rupee terms, the export touched INR 272099.11 Mn in April 2020 – March 2021 as against INR 360439.83 Mn in April 2019 – March 2020, registering a decline of 24.51%.

• Footwear (Leather Footwear, Footwear Components & Non-Leather Footwear) holds the major share of 50.99% in the total export of leather and leather products with an export value of US $ 1877.41 Mn. This is followed by Leather Goods & Accessories with a share of 25.65%, Finished Leather 10.27%, Leather Garments 8.03% and Saddlery & Harness 5.06%.
