Sub : Increase of import duty on Leather / Synthetic/ Textile products ( 4202) and footwear ( 6401 to 6405)
Dear Member
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a Customs Notification No. 67/2018 dated 26th September 2018 effecting increase in Basic Customs Duty for import of certain items including the following items with effect from 27th September 2018.
a) Footwear falling under HS Codes 6401 to 6405 from 20% to 25%
b) Leather / Synthetic/ Textile products falling under HS Code 4202 from 10% to 15% . Items under 4202 include trunks, suit cases, vanity cases, executive cases, briefcases, school satchels, spectacle cases, binocular cases, camera cases, musical instrument cases, gun cases, holsters and similar containers; travelling bags, insulated food or beverages bags, toilet bags, rucksacks, handbags, shopping bags, wallets, purses, map cases, cigarette cases, tobacco pouches, tool bags, sports bags, bottle cases, jewellery boxes, powder boxes, cutlery cases and similar containers, of leather or of composition leather, of sheeting of plastics, of textile materials, of vulcanised fibre or of paperboard, or wholly or mainly covered with such materials or with paper
