Sub: Inviting Participation in 8th edition – Footwear & Leather Fair 2016 February 5-7, 2016 BIMICH Colombo, Sri Lanka
We wish to inform that the Council proposes to organize Group Participation of Members in the subject Footwear & Leather Fair 2016 scheduled during February 5-7, 2016 at Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is a growing market for leather and leather products. India’s export of leather and leather products to Sri Lanka increased from US$ 4.97 million in 2009 to US$ 11.36 million in 2013, growing at a CAGR of 22.96%. India’s export of Footwear component to Sri Lanka increased from US $ 0.01 Million in 2009 to US $ 1.58 Million in 2013. Hence, there is a good scope for export of Footwear Component to Sri Lanka.
About the Footwear & Leather Fair 2016. The Footwear and Leather Fair is an important footwear trade event in Sri Lanka held in February every year, for the footwear & leather sector. The 8th edition of Sri Lanka Footwear & Leather Fair will be held from 5th to 7th February 2016 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, in 4 Halls (A, B, C, D & E) in Colombo. Over hundred companies will exhibit their products in 225 stalls. High Quality, sustained volumes and competitive pricing have been key factors contribution to the success of Sri Lank’s footwear & Leather products industry. Sri Lankan Exporters are established suppliers to many high and international brands

Footwear, Raw Materials, Machinery, Chemicals, Leather Goods, Components & Accessories, Travel Goods & Other related services. However, for overseas participants the display profile is limited to Raw Material, Machinery, Components & Accessories.

Considering the market opportunities in Sri Lanka for Footwear Components, the Council proposes to organize member participation in 8th edition of Footwear & Leather Fair 2016 under MDA for the first time.
Participation Fee:
The tentative Participation Cost is Rs.65,000/- per 9 sq.mtrs built-up Stand under MDA Scheme which includes the following display accessories:
9 Sq.Mt stall with fascia board
One Counter & Two Chairs
One 5 amp Plug
Electricity and cleaning fee of charge
Free listing in the exhibitors catalog
The participants can order for the additional accessories if required not exceeding Rs.10,000/- through CLE. Additional Accessories exceeding the ceiling of Rs.10,000/- shall have to be borne by the participating companies.
Assistance to Exporters under MDA Scheme:
Members participating in this fair (whose export turnover during 2014-15 is more than Rs 3 lakhs and less than Rs.30 Crores) can claim MDA Grant of maximum of Rs.1,00,000/- on Stall charges plus Air Fare in Economy class, subject to fulfillment of other MDA eligibility criteria as per MDA norms. MDA Intimation Application should be received by the Council by giving minimum 14 days Advance Notice excluding date of receipt of application in the Council and date of departure from the country.
Members may also note that participants will have to arrange the Visa on their own. However, CLE will arrange for the invitation letter from the fair organizer to facilitate obtaining of visas by participants. Kindly note that non-issuance of Visa will not be considered as a valid ground for withdrawal subsequent to confirmation of participation. Hence, withdrawal from participation after confirmation will not be allowed.
Members are requested to kindly send the duly filled-up Application Form along with Participation Charges of Rs.65,000/- for a 9 sq.m Built-up Stand by Cheque / DD drawn in favour of Council for Leather Exports. This may be sent to either Council’s Head Office in Chennai or Regional Offices at Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai, Kolkata & Agra on or before 18th December 2015. Withdrawal from participation after confirmation shall not be allowed under any circumstances and the Participation Fee will be forfeited since the Council will not get refund for cancellation from the fair organizers.
