Sub: Consultancy for the Exporters of Leather Apparels and Leather Goods/Accessories in the US Market.
Over the years, India has established its strong presence in the US market and the latest reports shows that India’s export of leather and leather products to USA during April-August, 2015 has reached to the level of US $ 380.73 million as against US $ 315.30 million recorded during the corresponding period of previous year, registering a growth rate of 20.75%. During the period April-August, 2015, export to USA topped the graph in the overall export with 14.35%, followed by U.K. (12.32%) and Germany (11.09%).
In order to further enhance India’s export of Leather Apparels and Leather Goods to the US market, Council is engaging Mr. Jaggi Singh, President/CEO of M/s NML International Inc., New York as a ‘Consultant’ to help the Indian exporters of Leather Garments and Leather Goods/Accessories to establish contacts with the potential and genuine importers in USA, through a 6-months long consultancy service, starting from November, 2015 to April, 2016. M/s NML International Inc., New York has been in business since 1990 and they are closely associated with retailers, wholesalers and now with e-commerce companies. The agency has done business with all the leading retailers big and small in the US. They are in touch with at least a dozen top designer brands in USA including Kenneth Cole, Elie Tahari, Joseph Abboud, Rocawear, Nicole Miller, Rainfrorest, Alexander Julian, Jhane Barnes etc.
A brief Note, outlining the scope of the Project and results envisaged is given in the Annexure.
Council is submitting a proposal to the Govt. of India for considering financial assistance under MAI Scheme for payment of consultancy charges and other related expenses. In order to meet part of the expenses, a nominal participation fee of Rs. 60,000/- needs to be contributed by the members, who are benefitting out of this programme.
It is hereby informed that Council is circulating this information to all the member-exporters of Leather Apparels and Leather Goods, on all India basis, and in order to ensure successful implementation of the programme, a maximum number of 30 participants will be enlisted. Enlistment of participants will be purely on ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis.
Therefore, members who are interested to join the programme may send their confirmation by return mail and submit the participation fee of Rs. 60,000/- through a cheque drawn in favour of ‘Council for Leather Exports’ along with enclosed application form, duly completed, to the nearest Regional/ Extension Office of the Council on or before Monday, the 26th October, 2015.
