Sub : Ease of Compliance to Maintain Registers under Various Labour Laws Rules 2017

Dear Member

We wish to inform that we have received a communication on March 29, 2017 from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry informing that the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India has notified the Ease of Compliance to Maintain Registers under Various Labour Laws Rules 2017 vide Notification No. G.S.R. 154 (E) dated 21st February 2017 (copy enclosed). These rules envisages maintenance of a combined register concerning employees (either electronically or otherwise) which are required under various laws.

According to said rules, the following new registers (as per formats notified Notification No.    G.S.R. 154 (E) dated 21st February 2017) will substitute old formats:

  1. Format of Employee Register – Form A
  2. Format for Wage Register – Form B
  3. Format of Register of Loans Recoveries – Form C
  4. Format of Attendance Register – Form D

Accordingly, the register for the following rules/acts will be substituted with the new formats as indicated above

  • Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 (27 of 1996)
  • Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 (37 of 1970)
  • Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 (25 of 1976)
  • Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service)

Act, 1979 (30 of 1979)

  • Mines Act, 1952 (35 of 1952)
  • Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (11 of 1948)
  • Payment of Wages Act, 1936 (4 of 1936)
  • Sales Promotion Employees (Conditions of Service) Act, 1976 (11 of 1976)
  • Working Journalists and Other Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955 (45 of 1955)
