Sub: Inviting Member-participation in the MOS SHOES FAIR, Moscow, Russia, March 15-18, 2016 under MDA

“Russia is the 9th largest importer of leather & leather products in the world. Russia’s import of leather & leather products increased from US$ 3295.94 mn in 2008 to US$ 4761.02 mn in 2012, growing at a CAGR of 9.63%. Russia accounts for a share of 2.96% in global leather import trade of US$ 160.54 billion in 2012. Russia and the neighboring CIS countries are major users of Footwear and leather accessories and Russia’s import of these product categories has been increasing in recent years.

India-Russia Leather Trade:

India’s exports of leather & leather products to Russia has increased from US$ 6.70 mn in 2009 to US$ 51.57 mn in 2013-14. Out of Russia’s total leather import trade, India presently accounts for a share of only 0.60%.

Russia’s import of Footwear has increased from US$ 2843.80 million in 2008 to US$ 4000.67 million in 2012 growing at a CAGR of 8.9%. India’s export of footwear to Russia has increased from US$ 1.61 million in 2009 to US$ 23.12 million in 2012 at CAGR of 94.66%.

Russia’s import of Leather Goods & Accessories has increased from US$ 182.52 million in 2008 to US$ 284.93 million in 2012 growing at a CAGR of 11.77%. India’s export of Leather Goods & Accessories to Russia has increased from US$ 0.57 million in 2009 to US$ 2.20 million in 2013-14 at CAGR of 40.16%. Thus considering the import potential of Russia, and growth rate of India’s leather sector exports to Russia, the potential for enhancing export of Footwear and Leather Goods from India to Russia is very good.

About the fair: The MOS Shoes Fair, Moscow is the most important and largest fair for Footwear, and Bags & Accessories in Russia and Eastern Europe. This exhibition has been in existence since 17 years and is held five times in a year as per dates most suitable for Russian and International Exhibitors. The 67th International Exhibition of footwear, bags and accessories MOSSHOES and the International Exhibition of bags and fashion accessories MOSPEL took place from 15-18th March 2016 at the International Exhibition Center “Crocus Expo” in Moscow. Leading footwear and leather products, manufacturers and suppliers from 20 countries such as Russia, Belorussia, Poland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Serbia, Croatia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Portugal, China, Great Britain, Brazil, India, Austria, USA, Slovenia, Australia participated in the Fair.

Among foreign exhibitors the German exposition was the most numerous one and leading companies including Gabor, Peter, Kaizer, Rieker, Legero, Wortmann Group, Collonil etc participated in the fair. The exhibition presented footwear collections of all price segments- from economy to premium. As per post-show statistics 60% of the visitors were interested in the medium price segments, 21% the top, and 19% the low price segment. About 180 leading Russian manufacturers and suppliers of footwear demonstrated their Fall-Winter 2015-16 season collections.

March 2016 Edition of MOS Shoes is the International specialized exhibition for Footwear & Bags and Accessories will be held from March 15-18, 2016 in the International Exhibition Centre, Crocus Expo Pavilion 3, Hall 18 in Moscow. The fair will have a total area of about 17500 sq mtrs in which about 450 companies from various countries are expected to participate. The approximate number of visitors who attended the last March 2015 edition of the fair was 13000, from 40 countries

Council’s Participation in MOS Shoes. As part of the export development activities, the Council participated for the first time in the October 2004 edition of MOS Shoes. The participation in September 2009 edition for the second time was organized as part of “YEAR OF INDIA IN RUSSIA-2009”. Considering the huge market potential Russia for footwear and Bags & Accessories, the Council has proposed to participate in the March 2016 2015 edition of the fair under the MDA

The cost of Participation Charges – The participation charges in the March 2016 edition of the MOSShoes is Rs. 2,90,000/- for a stand of 9 Sq.Mt stand and Rs. 3,80,000/- for 12 Sq.Mt stand. The stand includes carpeting, wall panel, sign board /Fascia with company Name, 1 table, chairs, shelves, waste basket, spot light and power socket. For any other accessories the exhibitors have to order additionally on their own. Members who are interested to participate in the MOS Shoes Fair, March 15-18, 2016 are requested to send the attached filled –in Application form along with the Participation Fee in full on or before November 30, 2015.

Assistance to exporters under MDA Scheme: The Council will propose the DOC, the Council will reimburse the MDA grant for Members participating in this fair (whose export turnover during 2014-15 is less than Rs. 30 Crores) are eligible to claim MDA Grant of maximum of Rs. 2,00,000/- as reimbursement on economy excursion class air fare and space rent., subject to fulfillment of other MDA eligibility criteria as per Revised MDA norms. For detailed MDA Guidelines, members may refer the MDA section in the website of the Council www.leatherindia.org . The MDA intimation application should be received by the Council by giving minimum 14 days Advance Notice excluding date of Receipt of application in the Council and Date of Departure from the Country.

Members may also note that participants will have to arrange the Visa on their own. However, CLE will arrange for the Invitation Letter from the fair organizer to facilitate obtaining Visas by participants. Kindly note that non-issuance of Visa will not be considered as valid ground for withdrawal subsequent to confirmation of participation. Hence, withdrawal from participation after confirmation will not be allowed.
