Sub: CLE Industry outreach Event (Webinar) on Quality Control Orders (QCOs) implementation in the Footwear Sector on 21st June 2023 at 11.30am – reg.
This is regarding the Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for Footwear Sector which will come into force with effect from 01.07.2023 as per the Orders dated: 03.06.2022 issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles mentioned in the QCO Orders. From 1st July 2023, notified footwear products cannot be sold / traded in domestic market, without a BIS license. The products would have to conform to the specified standards and bear the standard mark under a license from the BIS.
Please recall that the CLE has conducted a Webinar on 18th May 2023 on the QCOs implementation in the footwear. In order to create awareness amongst the Industry, the CLE proposes to organize another Industry outreach Event (Webinar) on the QCOs implementation in the footwear industry on 21st June 2023 (Wednesday) at 11.30am. The Webinar would cover the following subjects:
· Implementation aspects of the QCOs with respect to the procedures to be followed by the industry, applications, documentations, testing, grant of license etc.
· Imports of footwear and components from abroad, procedures to be followed under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS), applications, documentations, methodology etc.

The officials of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) would be attending the Webinar and would explain about the QCOs implementation, followed by Question & Answer (Q&A) Session in which the BIS would offer clarifications to the queries of the participants.
In view of the importance of the subject, it is requested that the members of the Footwear Industry and Footwear Components Industry may make it convenient to attend the Webinar on 21st June 2023.
