Sub : Extension of 2% Focus Product Scheme benefit to finished leathers falling under tariff no. 4114

As members may be aware, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Anand Sharma announced additional support measures for certain sectors under the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-14 on 11th February 2011.
The DGFT has now issued a Public Notice No. 33/2009-2014 (RE-2010) dated 15th February 2011 giving effect to the aforesaid announcements.
As far as the leather sector is concerned, the additional measure announced was the extension of the 2% Duty Credit Scrip benefit for finished leather under Focus Product Scheme (FPS) to finished leathers falling under tariff no. 4114 namely Chamois ( including combination Chamois) leather ; patent leather, patent laminated leather and metallised leather. This benefit is mentioned under Serial No. 3 under the heading NEW FOCUS PRODUCTS in the aforesaid DGFT Public Notice No. 33/2009-2014 (RE-2010). This benefit will be applicable for exports made on or after 1st January 2011.
The Council had earlier requested DGFT to extend the 2% FPS benefit to finished leathers falling under tariff no. 4114.
