This is with regard to the GST rate reductions announced for several leather industry related items w.e.f. Nov. 15, 2017 as decided in the 23rd GST Council meeting held in Guwahati on Nov. 10,2017. The Central Board of Excise and Customs has now issued the following notifications giving effect to reduction of GST rates on finished leather /composition leather /chamois leather  from 12% to 5%, for leather goods/garments/belts/gloves/other leather products , fur articles and also certain chemicals from 28% to 18%.

a) CGST Notification No. 41/2017 dated 14.11.2017

b) IGST Notification No. 43/2017 dated 14.11.2017

A table giving GST rate reductions effected for leather industry related items is enclosed, for ready reference.
