IDLS Scheme – Filing of Applications
No.CLE / ILDP / IDLS / 2011-12
Dec 28, 2011
All members of the Council ,
Dear Members,
Sub: IDLS Scheme – Filing of applications.
Please recall that receipt of the applications seeking financial assistance under the Integrated Development of Leather Sector (IDLS) Scheme has been suspended as per the decision taken in the review meeting held on 04.08.2011 at the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
This matter was reviewed in the 23rd meeting of the Steering Committee held on 21st Dec 2011 under the chairmanship of Shri Chaitanya Prasad, Joint Secretary, DIPP. The formal minutes of the meeting is awaited.
In this background, the Council would like to inform that the DIPP has taken a decision that the stakeholder agencies (CLE, FDDI, CLRI) may receive the fresh (original) applications from the eligible entrepreneurs. These will be considered depending upon the fund availability for the IDLS Scheme. The fresh / original applications means those who wish to apply for the first time under the IDLS Scheme will only be permitted to apply. However, receipt of the applications will continue to be suspended for add-on applications. In other words, the units which have already submitted their applications /availed the assistance before will not be able now to file their add-on applications.
The Council would therefore advise the eligible units in the leather sector to file their original applications seeking financial assistance as per the scheme guidelines under IDLS Scheme. Since the Eleventh Five Year Plan period will come to an end by March 2012, it is advisable for units to file their applications at the earliest.
The applications can be submitted as before with :
CLE offices (for both Tanneries as well as Leather Products)
CLRI (if it is for tanneries)
FDDI (if it is for Leather Products).
With regards,
Ali Ahmed Khan
Executive Director
Council for Leather Exports
