All members of the Council ,
Dear Members,
Sub : IDLS Scheme – Receipt of new applications suspended – reg.
We wish to inform you that the Integrated Development of Leather Sector (IDLS) Scheme under implementation for all segment of the leather industry during the Eleventh Five Year Plan 2007-2012 is of late facing budgetary constraints, and the Council has already represented to the Union Planning Commission as well as Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion with a request to allocate additional outlay of Rs.100 Crore to clear all the applications filed under the IDLS Scheme. The request of the Council is under consideration.
The current status of the IDLS Scheme was reviewed in the meeting held on 04.08.2011 under the chairmanship of Shri Chaitanya Prasad, Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), in which various aspects of the scheme was discussed including budget availability. As per the minutes of the said Meeting received on 16.08.2011, it is mentioned that the funds available for IDLS Scheme in the current financial year will be exhausted in coping with the disbursement of grant for already approved units. After detailed review of the applications already waiting for approval vis-a-vis funds, it was decided that CLE / CLRI / FDDI will not accept any new applications from the units until there is a possibility of additional budget provision for the IDLS Scheme.
Accordingly, members may kindly take note that receipt of new applications under IDLS Scheme at CLE offices will not be accepted with effect from Aug 17, 2011, until further decision from DIPP. This is for your kind information.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
Fayaz Ahmad
