Dear Member
You are aware that as per Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying Gazette Notification S.O. 2666 (E), dated the 16th October, 2014 , as amended from time to time, the following categories of leathers are allowed for import (upon submission of Veterinary Certificate) through certain ports/ ICDs only. Details are given at Annexure .
· Raw hides and skins of bovine (including buffalo) or equine animals, sheep or lamb, other raw skins (skins of goats, swine), fresh or salted dried, limed, pickled, or otherwise preserved but not tanned, parchment-dressed or further prepared, whether or not de-haired or split with wool on or split;
· Raw furskins (including heads, tails, paws and other pieces or cuttings, suitable for furriers use);
Raw hides and skins and raw fur skins were not allowed for import through airport/landport at Kanpur. CLE took-up this issue with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying Gazette Notification.
We are pleased to inform that the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying Gazette Notification has now issued a Gazette Notification No. SO 1139 (E) dated 11th March 2025 stating that aforementioned raw hides and skins and raw furskins shall be allowed to import into India through the airport or land port, as the case may be, located at Kanpur under the jurisdiction of Animal Quarantine and Certification Station in New Delhi.
We thank the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying for consideration of CLE’s request.
Members may kindly note the above.
Thanks and regards
