Sub: Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for Footwear Industry under implementation from 01.07.2023 – Updated FAQs issued by BIS
As you are aware, the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India has mandated the implementation of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for Footwear Sector as follows:
- 3 footwear products (safety footwear, protective footwear, and occupational footwear) covered under the Personal Protective Equipment – Footwear (Quality Control) Amendment Order 2021 – QCO implemented from 01.01.2022
- 13 footwear products covered under the Footwear made from All-Rubber and all Polymeric material and its components (Quality Control Order) 2022 – QCO implemented from 01.07.2023.
- 11 footwear products covered under the Footwear made from Leather and other materials (Quality Control) order 2022 – QCO implemented from 01.07.2023.
Please recall that the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has earlier brought out the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the Quality Control Orders, and the same was circulated by CLE vide CLE Circular of even number dated 28.07.2023.
In continuation to above, the BIS has now come out with an updated FAQs on the Quality Control Orders, and the updated FAQs are attached herewith for your perusal.
