Sub:  SAMVAD on GST 2.0 with Taxpayers and Trade Associations in the South Zone – Directorate General of GST, Southern Zonal Office, seeks inputs from the industry

We wish to inform that the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax (DGGST) is undertaking studies on various GST-related issues with the aim of addressing identified gaps and enhancing the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) through a transparent and taxpayer-friendly GST administration. The Directorate General of GST, Southern Zonal Unit, Chennai, proposes to conduct a SAMVAD (Dialogue) with taxpayers /stakeholders in connection with GST administration and procedural issues on GST 2.0. The objectives of the SAMVAD will be to strengthen trust between taxpayers and the administration, improve the GST system, promote EoDB through a transparent and responsive GST framework, identify sector-specific GST issues on the policy front & analyse issues relevant to GST 2.0 and provide solutions. The SAMVAD will be held via video conference with stakeholders from the States/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Puducherry.

In this background, Directorate General of GST, Southern Zonal Office is seeking inputs/views/issues from leather and footwear industry on the following points:

1.   Issues related to GST administration
2.   Systematic and procedural bottlenecks faced
3.   Areas where enhanced accountability and transparency are needed in the GST process
4.   Practical solutions and policy interventions required
5.   Suggestions to strengthen the partnership between tax administration and trade/industry bodies
6.   Any other relevant issues that align with the objectives mentioned above
 
To facilitate easy submission of inputs by the industry, an Electronic Form has been created by the DGGST and the link to the electronic form is given below:

The Directorate General of GST has requested the CLE to disseminate the above information to members and seek them to provide their inputs in the Electronic Form.                               

The CLE therefore would request the members to kindly provide your inputs for the SAMVAD which is an important platform to share concerns and insights related to GST 2.0. Kindly provide inputs online, primarily focused on policy-related aspects, EoDB and compliance-related issues. While sharing the inputs, details of the specific aspects involved, along with supporting documents wherever possible, may also be provided to Directorate General of GST, which will facilitate proper examination of the issues.

The deadline for providing inputs in the Electronic Form is on or before 15th January 2026 (Thursday).
