Sub: Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNK) – Export through Post Offices
Dear Member,
As members are aware, Exports to posts have been enabled as per Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs Gazette Notification No. 104/ 2022 (Non-Tariff) dated 9th December 2022.
Accordingly, the Department of Posts (DoP) has developed Dak NiryatKendras (DNK) in various post offices to facilitate e – commerce exports and has digitized the process of filing Postal Bill of Export, to help in paperless and online Customs clearance of items exported through post.
Members are requested to extensively use the services of Postal Department for exports. The DNK customer portal provides a user-friendly interface for data entry, invoicing, wallet management, service selection, tracking, and dashboard management. These features enhance compliance and make exports more cost-effective, faster and easier for small businesses to manage from their home or workshop.
The DoP had also introduced International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS) to address the requirement of small e-commerce sellers of affordable shipping of packets upto 2 kg globally. The ITPS which started initially for Asia-Pacific countries has been extended to 43 countries, including major destination such as USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany etc.,
Moreover, the DoP has cut its tariffs by upto 49% with effect from 1st April 2025 to reduce logistics cost and increase competitiveness of Indian exporters in global market, giving boost to the exports from India in the process. Furthermore, the five new destinations, – Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Uruguay and Zimbabwe – have been added to the list of destinations for ITPS and the weight limit has also been increased to 5 kg for 29 destinations.
As part of the vision to transform India Post into a major public logistics organization, as outlined by the Hon’ble Minister of Finance in the Budget speech, DoP plans to establish Centers of Excellence for Exports across the country. These centers will serve as comprehensive export facilitation hubs, offering services such as cataloguing studios, inventory management and warehousing, training and conference facilities, and dedicated help desks to assist exporters in expanding their global reach.
