Duty free Import scheme for Leather Garment exporters

Amendments in the Custom Notification No. 21/2002 dated. 01.03.2002
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of finance (Department of Revenue), No. 21/2002-Customs, dated the 1st March, 2002, namely:
In the said Notification:-
(i) in the Table, after Sr. No. 167B and the entries relating thereto, the following Sr. No. and entries shall be inserted, namely,-

(a) in condition No. 21, for condition (b), the following condition shall be substituted, namely, –
“(b) the total value of goods imported shall not exceed 3 percent of the FOB value of textile garments (other than handloom garments) or leather garments, as the case may be or 5 percent of the FOB Value of handloom garments exported during the preceeding financial year; however, the value of lining and inter-lining materials imported shall not exceed 2 percent of the said total value”.
(b) after condition No. 21B and the entries relating thereto, the following condition No. and entries shall be inserted namely, –
|"21C|| If, - (a) the total value of goods imported shall not exceed 1 per cent of the FOB value of exports of carpets during the preceding financial year;
(b) the importer produces a Certificate from Carpet Export Promotion council certifying the value of exports made during the preceding financial year, mentioned in condition(a), and also the value and quantity of goods already imported under this notification during the current financial year."
