Sub :Indian Trade Classification (ITC) HS Code 2017

Dear Sir,

We wish to inform you that DGFT has notified the ITC HS 2017 schedule vide notification No.36/2015-2020 dated Jan 17, 2017. This notification specifies the import policy in respect of various items (and not the import duty) including leathers Chapter 41 fur skins and fur items under Chapter 43, leather goods under Chapter 42 as well as footwear Chapter 64. This import schedule is similar to the ITC HS 2012 schedule notified in 2012 except the following items which have been prohibited vide DGFT Notification No.33/2015-20 dated 3rd Jan 2017

The above prohibition has also been incorporated in the aforesaid ITC HS schedule 2017. However the Council has already represented to the Government to remove the ban on import of fur skins which are coming from Commercial Farms. The Council had also earlier represented to the DGFT to remove the condition of requirement of Wild Life for bovine finished leather falling under 4107. This is for your kind information.
