To: Members of the Council

Dear Member(s),

Sub: Logistics related Data & Issues – Inputs requested from Industry

As members are aware, Logistics primarily involves various transportation modes & storage options along with the services component as well as regulatory processes. Connectivity and convenience in logistics operations are the keys to sustain trade growth. Logistics infrastructure covering road, rail, waterways, and air network plays a major role in establishing connectivity. The logistic management has become a paramount tool in the export business as shorter lead times are given by overseas buyers for manufacturing and export of products.

With a view to coordinate with the industry stakeholders and obtain logistic related data and feedback from the industry on the issues and suggestions for taking up suitably with the Government of India or State Governments at the policy levels, the CLE has now taken an initiative and set up a separate Department for ‘Logistics’ which will function from the Head Office. The Regional Offices and Extension Offices of CLE would continue to coordinate at the field level with the industry stakeholders in resolving day-to-day logistical issues in export and import activities of the member-units.

As a preliminary step, it is proposed to seek inputs from the industry on matters related to logistics concerning their production and export or domestic sales i.e entire value chain in the manufactured goods reaching the destination(s) or import of inputs. For this purpose, a Format has been devised to seek the inputs from the industry and the same is attached herewith for your kind perusal.

We would welcome any further suggestions or inputs beyond this format also if you would like to share the same with the CLE.

It is requested that you may kindly provide your inputs as per Format in your Letter Head, and scan copies of the same may kindly be sent to CLE by email to cle@cleindia.com, dd-p.t@cleindia.com under copy to concerned Regional Offices on or before 10.12.2021.

We look forward to receiving your kind response at the earliest.

With warm regards,

R. SELVAM, IAS
