Sub : Post import testing of raw hide / skin / furskins
Dear Member,
We have received an Office Memorandum dated 07.03.2025 from Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, (copy enclosed) informing about mandatory compulsory post import testing requirements for Import of Raw Hides and Skins under HSN 4101-4103 and Furskins under HSN 4301-4302 (except 43021940 – tiger cat skin which is prohibited for import into India), which are coming from the countries (country of origin and export) affected by Anthrax, Lumpy Skin Disease(LSD), African Swine Fever(ASF), Classical Swine Fever(CSF), Peste des petits ruminants(PPR), Sheep & Goat Pox and Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) at the time of actual export.
The list of laboratories which will be undertaking the testing are also given in the said Office Memorandum.
You are already aware that import of raw, salted, pickled, limed and dried skins and hides into India are subject to production of Veterinary subject in the format notified by Government of India vide notification dated 24th July 2009 (copy enclosed).
Also, Raw Hides and skins and Raw Fur Skins are allowed for import only to certain ports/Airports as per details enclosed in Annexure I.
